Helicopter Skydiving, a match made in Heaven

Individuals looking to experience the ultimate in adrenaline rushes look no further. The combination of a tandem skydive and a helicopter ride is certain to get your pulse pounding. Helicopter skydiving is quickly becoming a new way to partake in the sport of skydiving with people receiving opportunities to jump from helicopters all over the world.

The process is relatively the same as traditional tandem skydives that are commenced by leaping from a plane. The helicopter will convey participants to roughly 4000 meters or 14,000 feet above the ground at most. Then, the tandem instructor will mauver their student toward the doorway. It will not be necessary to leap, you can simply fall out and be on your way.

It is recommended that first-time participants jump alongside a seasoned professional. This provides an opportunity for the participant to really revel in the moment and not have to worry about the functionality of the helicopter skydive. The tandem master assumes the responsibility of executing the jump, deploying the canopy, steering, and landing safely while participants enjoy the skydives sensations and the scenery. Helicopter skydiving, according to some, provides a more immersive experience, environment-wise than traditional skydives but both are equally as enjoyable and exciting.

The Process behind Helicopter Skydiving

Following your arrival to the location, you will be briefed by your tandem instructor and may be asked to watch an instructional video. You will be outfitted in your skydiving gear. The gear is essentially the same as in traditional skydives and can include eye protection, helmets, flight suits and a harness that they instructor can attach themselves to. The instructor will be wearing the rig that contains a main canopy, a backup chute, and a safety device called an Automatic Activation Device or AAD that will deploy the chutes should there be a problem doing it manually.

You will board the helicopter alongside your tandem instructor, remember to execute proper boarding procedures e.g. boarding from the side as the helicopter's tail rotor can pose dangers. The helicopter will convey you to jump altitude in typically less than 10 minutes. Your instructor will harness themselves to you securely. You will be maneuvered into a sitting position in the doorway of the helicopter, they will count down and you will fall out.

You will experience several minutes of freefall (actual times are variant upon the altitude at which you jumped). The instructor will deploy the canopy and you will glide back down to land. If you are jumping at a location that offers photography services, you may have noticed the photographer jumping before you and filming you. They will also land before you to film you touching down. If this option is available, your images or video may be available in less than an hour following you helicopter skydive.

**Participating locations may offer Photo and Video Packages to capture every moment of your skydive.**
