About Savannah Music Festival
The Savannah Music Festival (SMF) was established in 1989. The 501(c)3 is dedicated to offering world-class celebrations of musical arts. There will be timeless and adventurous productions that will further arts education, unite artists and audiences, as well as foster economic growth for the area. This is the place to fully immerse yourself in a wide range of music from country and folk to jazz and chamber. In addition to a wonderful variety of music, the festival will take place during peak azalea season.
The annual budget for this festival is $3.8 million. They expect to raise $2.3 million with tax revenues of $1 million each year between hotel, sales, and transportation tax. More than 40% of SMF’s audience consists of patrons from out of town. They bring 500 of the world’s finest musical artists making it the largest music festival to take place in Georgia. Also, SMF is one of the most distinctive cross-genre music festivals in the world.
Programs At The Festival
Every year, SMF hosts a high school jazz band competition, mentorship programs for acoustic musicians, as well as other digital initiatives. The organization prioritizes partnerships and collaborations. They work with organizations like Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD), Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum, Tel-fair Museums, Savannah Tour of Homes & Gardens, and several local churches.
