Vegan helicopter created for animal activist fashion pioneer.
Is a vegan helicopter even possible? Dr. Urs Brunner ordered an ACH145 helicopter, but he had a special request. His wife, ethical fashion pioneer Daniela Brunner, wanted a luxury vegan helicopter, specifically the interior. Airbus Corporate Helicopters took the idea and ran with it, creating an entirely plant-based interior.

The specially made cabin features a gray interior. Leather elements were replaced with a material called “Ultraleather,” which has the feel, look, and durability of authentic leather. The six passenger seats, cockpit controls cuff, central storage cabinet, and rear partition have all been redesigned and covered in the new material. Although it is durable and certified for aviation use, the material can be hard to work with as it will only stretch in one direction. The craftsmanship of the ACH team, which worked hands on to overcome the challenges and deliver a high level of finish to the customers.
Head of ACH Frederic Lemos is very proud of his team and feels they found a practical way to fulfil the customers’ wishes. He added that the finished product also looks superb, along with adding lasting durability. The news of this fully vegan interior was announced at the 2021 Dubai Airshow.
What it’s made out of.
Leather, made from animal skins and hides, is a common material used for seating in helicopters, planes, and jets because it is durable, easy to work with, and strong. Daniela wanted to veer away from any surfaces that would have used the traditional fabric in order to be consistent with her ethical values. She is the founder of a fashion house called Giulia and Romeo, which doesn’t use any animal products in its line. Going one step farther than many companies, Giula and Romeo donates all profits to animal welfare.

Dr. Brunner is not only a German construction entrepreneur but is also a helicopter and fixed wing pilot himself. The ACH145 has now been delivered to him and Daniela. They are very happy with the finished product and appreciate the skill and imagination that went into this interior.
