A Better Result for Better Building Systems: Helicopter HVAC Installation

Fair Lifts Projects

A helicopter HVAC installation provides unmatched speed and efficiency for placing rooftop equipment. Fair Lifts recently demonstrated this value in a project for Better Building Systems in North Las Vegas. On November 22, 2025, the team used a Bell 212 helicopter to lift eight rooftop HVAC units onto a Lysol operated 24 hour facility on E Washburn Rd. Each unit weighed about 2,125 pounds and required precise placement on an existing structure 40 to 60 feet high.

Better Building Systems chose Fair Lifts to handle the heavy lift portion, seeking a method that would cut installation time and avoid disrupting the continuously operating facility. With no crane restrictions and ample space in the parking lot for staging, the Bell 212 helicopter offered the ideal mix of power, precision, and cost efficiency.

The Fast-Track Installation Plan

The project involved installing eight new RTUs for a high demand production environment where downtime was not an option. A helicopter solution allowed all lifts to be completed quickly and safely, without the delays typical of crane setup, road closures, or ground equipment mobilization.

A staging area in the facility’s parking lot allowed for load organization and rigging preparation. The helicopter’s ability to access the roof directly streamlined the process, especially given the building’s limited rooftop access points.

The Bell 212 is a trusted aircraft in aerial construction and industrial transport. Its twin engine power, stable performance, and strong external load capacity make it a top choice for helicopter HVAC installations that demand reliability and precise maneuverability.

For this mission, the aircraft was configured for external cargo operations. This allowed each RTU to be lifted from the staging area and placed on the rooftop in a controlled sequence. The helicopter’s stability was crucial for smooth transitions and accurate placement, reducing the time needed for adjustments on the roof.

Fair Lifts crews arrived early to coordinate with Better Building Systems and establish a safe workflow. After rigging checks and load verification, the Bell 212 began operations. Each unit was transported and positioned with the precision of an experienced aerial team.

The helicopter completed all eight lifts in rapid succession, keeping the project ahead of schedule. For a 24 hour facility, this efficiency provided major value by avoiding prolonged noise, obstruction, and operational delays.

Advantages of Helicopter HVAC Installation

While cranes are common, they are not always the most practical choice. This helicopter lift offered clear benefits:

  • Faster installation with minimal setup and quick lift cycles.
  • Lower overall costs compared to crane mobilization and extended rentals.
  • Reduced disruption for a facility that cannot accommodate lengthy shutdowns.
  • Superior access to rooftops that are difficult for ground equipment.
  • Precision placement through coordinated aerial and ground crew communication.

For Better Building Systems and the Lysol facility, maintaining productivity was paramount. The helicopter method allowed installation within a compact window without interfering with manufacturing, shipping, or facility traffic.

Client Feedback

The project’s success is reflected in the 5 star review from Todd Gibson of Better Building Systems:

“Working with Fair Lifts truly exceeded our expectations. Ana Richidi worked continuously to assist us through the process and provide all the information and guidance needed for our heavy lift requirements. We are very pleased that using their helicopter services actually ended up saving us money and a serious amount of time over the other alternatives we were looking into.”

This feedback highlights the importance of Fair Lifts’ project management support, from detailed planning to onsite coordination, in ensuring safe and efficient operations.
