Charlotte City Council has pledged to help replace the Charlotte Police Department’s 20 plus-year-old helicopter. This move comes as a relief to the police department as the new chopper will help in keeping the residents of the region safe. According to a recent official statement from Charlotte City Council, the helicopter will cost the government $5.2 million. The money to procure the chopper is set to be obtained from the Capital Investment Plan.
The decision to purchase this new helicopter almost passed unopposed. Out of a total of 11 votes, 10 supported the idea. It was agreed that buying a helicopter bore more benefits than a drone.
