Flight Restrictions Issued Over Nashville Bombing Site

Aerial Surveys - Helicopter Events - Helicopter Services

Following a bombing incident that involved a helicopter in Nashville on Christmas Day in 2020, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) provided a temporary restriction for flights around the area where the event took place. While the agency did not state the height limitation, the restriction was meant for about a ½ mile radius and was to be observed from January 10.

The loud explosion shocked a considerable chunk of Nashville residents. Wreckages and shards of glass were blown all over the location, as revealed by the emergency officers who responded to the occurrence. According to an article published by The Washington Post on December 30, 2020, the bomb was inside a recreational vehicle. The Nashville Police disclosed that this RV believed to have housed the bomb was seen in the area around five hours before the explosion. It was a white, older make, as a local entrepreneur and eye witness Betsy Williams told The Washington Post.

This Nashville bombing destroyed some businesses which were close by, and communication networks were also affected. Information from the Washington Post piece also revealed that the bombing was intentional.

The FAA, which was originally started in 1984, already knows the owner of the helicopter that was involved in the downtown Nashville explosion, and the company responsible for the flight operation. The agency is yet to reveal more details about it. By issuing this flight restriction, the FAA is playing one of its roles. Generally, the modern transportation agency enhances air safety and takes measures to guarantee efficient air traffic control. It also provides rules that govern how aircraft are manufactured, taken care of, and operated in the United States.
