Sikorsky Australia, a Lockheed Martin Company, is happy to announce its new Achievement. According to a statement released on 11 Nov.2020, the company is now approved and has an Aircraft MTO accreditation (MTO is short for Maintenance Training Organization). This means that Sikorsky Australia has complied with all statutory safety standards and obligations as laid out by Defense Aviation Safety Authority (DASA).
Per a joint directive introduced in 2016 as an emerging convention to align the Australian military operations with the European Military Airworthiness System, DASA was mandated with the responsibility to facilitate and promote the safety of Australian military aviation.
MTO accreditation results from years of hard work and commitment in training its staff on areas not limited to the effective management of aviation safety risks and compliance with DASA’s Defence Airworthiness Safety Regulations (DASR) Part 147 requirements.
It’s worth noting that this is a status granted only to a few other defense industry organizations. With MTO accreditation, Sikorsky Australia can now officially train defense personnel and other Kikorsky staff on the avionics and mechanical trade categories of both the MH-60R and S-70A-9 helicopter platforms.
Sikorsky Australia’s MTO certification has been a significant milestone celebrated not just by the company but also by its customers and partners. Dale Hall, the general manager of Sikorsky Australia, also released a statement about how delighted he was to achieve a status considered as a benchmark by many countries.
Achieving Sikorsky Australia’s MTO will bolster the company’s current operations with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). For years now, Sikorsky Australia has been supporting RAN with training its personnel on Romeo and Blackhawk helicopters in a bid to raise the quality and safety standards of military operations across Australia and beyond.
