After the Llano River broke its banks in October 2018, water levels quickly rose, with the junction receiving more than 18 inches of rain. The water soon swept through a nearby recreational vehicle campground. The aircrew of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) acted fast to perform a heroic rescue of four campground residents. Sadly, four residents lost their lives in the Llano River flood, which peaked at speeds of 30mph.
