Herbicide application for land reclamation operations are growing across Florida, and on June 1, 2025, Fair Lifts finished a major herbicide application project in Lakeland, FL. The project spanned 956.47 acres and aimed to restore unused and overgrown land by precisely targeting unwanted vegetation with agricultural drone technology.
Precision Herbicide Application for Vegetation Control
This effort was part of a long-term land reclamation strategy to prepare unmanaged land for future agricultural use. The primary goal was controlling togan, a tough and invasive species needing specialized herbicidal treatment. After consulting the client and agronomic experts, the project called for Velpar, a powerful liquid herbicide designed for selective and non-selective weed and brush control in forestry, industrial, and utility settings.
Application Method: Advanced UAV Deployment

targeted application area map
Fair Lifts utilized two XAG P100 Pro HP Agricultural Drones for the herbicide application. The XAG P100 Pro HP is a top-tier drone system designed for efficient agricultural spraying. It was chosen for its heavy payload capacity, steady flight patterns, and precise spray rates across large areas. Each drone applied 2 to 3 gallons per acre (GPA), ensuring thorough coverage while reducing chemical drift.
Spray Rate and Chemical Dosage
The target dosage was 4 pounds of active ingredient per acre. Fair Lifts calibrated each drone for exact droplet size and distribution. The two-drone team maintained high productivity across the nearly 1,000-acre site without compromising accuracy or safety.
Area History and Environmental Considerations
No prior herbicide treatments had been done in the area, making this a fresh start for vegetation control and future development. The site’s clean ecological baseline allowed the Velpar treatment to work effectively, targeting roots and foliage without interference from past chemical use.
Given the project’s scale, Fair Lifts followed EPA application standards, implementing drift control, real-time spray monitoring, and buffer zones to protect nearby properties and waterways.
