Precision Airlift Solutions Boost Efficiency at Archline’s Seoyon E-Hwa Plant Project

Fair Lifts Projects - Helicopter Lift Jobs - HVACR - Lifts

In the competitive world of construction and manufacturing, timing and precision are paramount. When Archline Construction Group, Inc., based in Atlanta, Georgia, faced unforeseen challenges during their Seoyon E-Hwa manufacturing plant project, they turned to Fair Lifts Helicopter Services for a timely and efficient solution. This project highlights how our specialized aerial lift capabilities were crucial in overcoming logistical hurdles and ensuring project success under tight constraints.

Project Scope and Initial Challenges

Archline Construction initially planned to use cranes to install 19 commercial HVAC Rooftop Units (RTUs), each weighing between 8000 and 10000 pounds, at the Seoyon E-Hwa manufacturing facility just outside of Savannah, GA. However, the onset of adverse weather conditions created soggy and hazardous ground conditions, making crane operations impractical. With a pressing timeline and the arrival of the HVAC units imminent, Archline Construction faced a critical decision.

Decision to Shift from Crane to Helicopter

With just days to spare, Archline Construction re-engaged Fair Lifts Helicopter Services, recognizing the flexibility and efficiency of helicopter lifts in challenging conditions. Our team promptly initiated the planning and coordination necessary to facilitate an aerial solution that would keep the project on track.

The Role of Sikorsky S-64E in Project Execution

The Sikorsky S-64E helicopter, known for its heavy-lifting capacity and stability, was selected for the task. This model is ideally suited for precision work in challenging environments, a key requirement for the project site. We managed all aspects of the operation, including FAA flight plans, rigging specifications, and onsite coordination, to ensure a seamless execution.

The Sikorsky S-64E is equipped to handle payloads up to 20,000 pounds with precision, making it an excellent choice for the installation of heavy HVAC units. This helicopter’s capability was pivotal in maneuvering each unit into place efficiently, minimizing the risk and time typically associated with crane setups.

Logistical Coordination and Site Preparation

Despite the presence of construction debris and limited rigging personnel, our collaborative efforts with Archline Construction ensured the site was clear and prepared for the lifts. Special attention was given to staging the HVAC units appropriately and preparing for a streamlined lift operation.

Overcoming the Odds: A Successful Lift Operation

On the day of the operation, April 14, 2024, the combined expertise of our pilots and ground crew allowed us to successfully complete the 19 lifts in just half a day. This rapid turnaround was critical in maintaining the project schedule and minimizing downtime for the construction team. The successful placement of each unit demonstrated not only our capability in handling urgent and complex lifting tasks but also highlighted our commitment to client satisfaction and project success.

Archline’s First Helicopter Lift Experience

Although Archline Construction has extensive experience with crane operations, this project marked their first utilization of a helicopter lift. The successful collaboration and the efficiency of the helicopter lift approach have set a new standard for handling similar challenges in future projects.

Client and Project Outcomes

The proactive support and flexibility offered by Fair Lifts Helicopter Services played a pivotal role in the project’s continuity. Archline Construction was able to proceed with their construction schedule without further delays, greatly appreciating the swift and effective solution provided by our team. The successful completion of this project not only ensured operational readiness for the Seoyon E-Hwa plant but also solidified our reputation as a reliable partner in industrial aerial lifts.

Seoyon E-Hwa, a prominent Hyundai parts supplier, is investing nearly $76 million into this facility, which will employ over 700 workers at the Savannah Chatham Manufacturing Center near Bloomingdale. Specializing in manufacturing key automotive components like interior headliners and bumpers, the plant is set to begin operations in October 2024. This facility will be a crucial supplier to Hyundai’s EV assembly plant in Bryan County, GA, a project which Fair Lifts has also supported this year.
