Earlier this week on Monday morning, a power line helicopter hovered around the Bristol Township. According to LevittownNow.com, the lower-flying helicopter was spotted several times by residents in different areas just hovering around. Kristina Pappas, the spokesperson of PECO was quoted saying, ” PECO is conducting aerial inspections in Bucks County.” Kristina later added that the company does regular inspections of the electric transmission lines as part of the company’s ongoing inspection and maintenance programs.
The helicopter patrols are a component of the maintenance work to ensure reliable and safe service for all PECO customers. PECO is said to use helicopter patrols to complete visual inspections of the electrical equipment to spot any maintenance work that might be due. Crews on the helicopter visually inspect the power line across the neighborhood and then take pictures for documentation purposes. In some cases, the photos are used to note where the repairs are needed.
PECO is known to use contracted helicopters to do maintenance checks for most of its electrical equipment. The company is dedicated to customer satisfaction so much that just last month, a similar inspection took place in the Levittown area where it drew the attention of residents for a few days. The previous inspection also took place on a Monday morning where the Aerospatiale AS355F2 model owned by Catalyst Aviation was seen hovering over the Bristol Township, Penndel Borough, and Middleton Township.
According to the readers of LevittownNow.com, the Aerospatiale AS355F2 slowed down when near power lines and it was less than a few hundred feet of the ground sometimes. And although the helicopters have been causing a lot of noise pollution for the past few months, residents of the area might just have to bear a little more.
