On November 10, 2020, two AH-64 Apache helicopters cycled above Blacksburg, VA, before landing for a planned educational training event. The two helicopters landed in different spaces, with one on the Virginia Tech Drillfield and another landed opposite the Holtzman Alumni Center.
The Virginia Tech Army ROTC had planned for this occasion but it coincided with the annual cadet service orientations. Besides, the day of the education event was a day earlier before Veterans Day, making the event suitable for the upcoming celebration. The two Apache helicopters came from the North Carolina National Guard 1-130th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, intending to provide insights about this military hardware.
The Virginia Tech Drillfield in a park located at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University proving ample ground for the event. Contrarily, the Holtzman Alumni Center is home to the Virginia Tech Alumni Associated located in The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center.
